I have been trying to love Atwater’s because I love Belvedere Square. I guess you can say they make a solid lunch spot, especially since I don’t love “fast food” or national chains. Currently, I am spending great deal of time over on the east side of town, so they work well for me. Plus, flavored iced teas that change regularly.
I think chef could use a little more seasoning in most of their dishes, but I am a fan of their chicken salad. I enjoy the sweet additions of apples, cranberries, and golden raisins. They use a herbed mayo; I love basil. Huge chunks of chicken. It’s a chunky salad with lots of flavor.
These guys offer full service at the tables and bar, but also have a case of to go salads, which makes lunch super easy. I usually can’t even finish the small container in one sitting.
There are sometimes, I need a few moments to work. On this day, I grabbed a seat, logged onto the wi-fi and ordered an actual salad – with the chicken salad on top of course…
The kale salad is raw kale topped with pumpkin seeds and home-made granola. I got it with the dressing on the side and was a little disappointed. The lemon buttermilk might have wilted the kale a little a mellowed the pickled beets, as the seeds and the granola and make for a dry dry salad. I’ll know for next time.
