Milk and Honey Market

IMG_2260I stopped in here for a quick sandwich as I ran from one meeting to another meeting. They are cute little market style cafe with tons of local produce and regional products.   But they are kind of tucked away  in Mount Vernon on the corner of Cathedral and Reed Streets.  I don’t always remember it’s there – but I passed it in my travels and there was a parking spot right out front.

I was actually not expecting the large menu choices of sammiches and salads.  IMG_2259There are about 10 different signature sandwiches and they also have tons of panini choices which they press and warm a little.  I am not sure how many of them are much different with the exception of one gets to go on the grill.  Most of them have a combination of the same local, regional and fresh ingredients.

I hemmed and hawed a little – kind of wanting the kid grilled cheese and then the adult grilled cheese since it was a little rainy out.  There was a line of folks in front of me, so I had plenty of time.  I eventually settled on the Turkey, Apple and Brie on whole grain bread.   IMG_2261I was happy with my choice – I mean look at the size of that?  It barely fit into the to-go container.

My main – actually only – complaint about this place was the wait for my food.  It took over 20 min from when I ordered till I could walk outside. I spent about 30 minutes in there – and I still had to eat my food to the car.   I don’t know who has that kind of time in the middle of the day.  Plenty of folks do, because they were packed.  They are only open during the day and my schedule is usually a hectic – so I doubt I will be there very often.
