I really only ever go here for happy hour. I am not so into chains, but I tend to make this exception… Well, for their happy hour – which is from 4-7pm Monday through Saturday and from 8pm to close on Sunday. It is an excellent scene for a Monday holiday celebration.
Most of things I love are on the happy hour menu. So much so, when it’s lunch time and your hungry, you still wait till 4pm for the specials.
They have a sake sangria – which is sake with sangria. It’s a little sweet for me so I usually only get one and then switch to one of their 5 or 6 choices of wine on the hh menu. They have great japanese beer choices on the specials menu as well.
Now for food – I don’t know why we even look at the menu – we mostly get a combo of the same things every time.
Edamame – perfectly steamed and salted. And only like $3 on the happy hour menu.
Shishito Peppers – according to the very descriptive menu these are “shishito peppers sautéed in an Asian seasoning”. They are small thin green peppers that will turn red, but are always served green. They are not always spicy and some are sweeter and some spicy than others. Ra makes them with a spicy, hosin-y sauce. Love. Love. Love.
Viva Las Vegas Roll – not for the boring or small mouthed. It is a huge roll with Kani kama crab & cream cheese inside, then lightly tempura battered & topped with spicy tuna, kani kama crab mix & sliced lotus root; finished with a sweet eel sauce & spinach tempura bits. Like I said, ginormous.
Pacific Roll – I like this one because it is also spicy and sweet; a mix of albacore, cilantro, jalapeño & cucumber on the inside of the roll. Then they top it with fresh avocado & mango salsa. They plate it with red beet tempura bits & sautéed cashew nuts.
Avocado roll – as boring as it sounds – avocado wrapped in seaweed with the rice on the outside.
One of these days, I will try for a bento box at lunch or something that isn’t on the special menu… I just don’t know how to pass up my favorite things. Rachel over at Like The Tea Eats likes it too – although she has much better pictures.

You need to try the edamame dip
Also there’s free miso soup or edamame if you check in on FourSquare.
