So, technically, Blue Hill isn’t a new spot for me. But, this is my blog – so I am writing anyway. I really do like this place and with the ease of open table, getting a rez is super easy. I have been trying to determine my top 5 restaurants and I could totally see this place on the list. I have yet to be disappointed.
I wish I had more pictures, but this is all I have. Maybe this shot played a factor in why? This smooth Malbec could definitely have had something to do with it. I really enjoyed this wine – medium bodied but very soft tannins even though I didn’t taste the fig and blueberry. It was a hit at the table.
So was the grilled halloumi, which came with two large chunks of the delicious a salty cyprus cheese over grilled french bread, plus a fresh lemon! I don’t know what salmoriglio sauce is, but it was tasty. Alright, I looked it up – it’s kinda pesto-ey with parsley, oregano, lemon and olive oil. This is quite quickly becoming one of my favorite cheeses and apps – thank goodness it is getting quite popular.
The rabbit empanadas may have changed my mind about rabbit. These weren’t your oily style doughy empanadas. Small round pieces of the rabbit wrapped with a thin crust and served over a jicima and butternut squash slaw with a spicy sauce.
So good, that we ordered a second round of both and a third bottle. This is where things get a little fuzzy.
I got my regular fav – a chopped salad that has all sorts of yummy things like sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, cucumbers and olives, if you want them (which I don’t – bleh!) and then their crab cake. I love love love their crab cake – I really do. Simple – they don’t have the jumbo lumps, nevertheless, it is all sweet creamy crab with very little filler.
